About Our Government
The Andover City Council welcomes you to the site and extends a general invitation to all regular and special public meetings.
The City of Andover is organized as a Mayor-Council form of government. Residents who are registered voters elect the Mayor and City Council by popular vote. The Mayor and Council are responsible for hiring an Administrator. The Council / Administrator style of government combines the strong political leadership of an elected governing body to make policies and laws that will enhance or sustain the quality of life in Andover, with the managerial expertise of the City Administrator to administer these policies and oversee the daily operation of the City.
The City Council is comprised of six members who are elected at large and serve four year terms which are staggered - three members being elected when the Mayor is elected, and the other three being elected two years later.
The City Council meets the second and last Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in City Hall, 1609 E Central, in Central Park. Council Workshop meetings are held the Monday before the last Council Meeting of the month starting at 6 p.m. at the Lodge in Central Park.
If you would like to present an issue to the Council at an upcoming meeting, contact the City Clerk at 316-733-1303, ext. 420 or by email at least one week prior to the subject meeting date.
